Music as Medicine

When a  friend sent me this article, I thought of a sacred part of my life, in addition to family, poetry, and visual art: music.

For years, I have played the classical guitar. Now I have the joy of playing two hours a week for patients, families, & staff at MSKCC as a volunteer.

Having experienced cancer myself, and having had the chance to play for my mother when she was ill, one of the clearest things for me is that this brings me as at least as much joy and comfort as it does the patients.
